Arthur is married to Guinevere but in most Arthurian legends their marriage is a failure. It is said that she has an affair with Lancelot and they are deeply in love. According to the Encyclopedia of Medieval Literature, Guenevere is the most beautiful women in the land. It is not clear weather Arthur and Guenevere have a good relationship as there are so many legends. In one of the many legends Arthur knows about the affair but he does not confront it until he is told by one of the Knights. Their affair ends after Arthur's death, when Guenevere decides to become a nun and Lancelot a bishop.
