It is not clear who King Arthur really is there are debates wether he is fictional, based on someone, or really lived. In many reading he is the son of Uther Pendragon and Igrayn and his mentor is Merlyn. According to the Encyclopedia of World Mythology, Arthur has no idea he is royalty untill he comes of age and claims his throne. In other legends Arthur does not become King untill he possesses Excalibur the enchanted sword. Like all everything about King Arthur there are two version of where Excalibur came from one is from the stone where Arthur pulled it out, and the other is from the Lady of the Lake. Like many people know he had the Knights of the round table which two of them are talked about the most Lancelot and Gawain. He also has a wife name Guinevere who has an affair with Lancelot. Arthur is potraid as a hero who is not affraid of a challange, like in Sir Gawain and The Green Knight he was the first to take on the Green Knight.
